Favorite Standby
This has been a lifelong favorite series for me. My only concern has been with the way Lisa and Lori now catalog the series, claiming that Lit 1 is appropriate for students in method level 3. James and Jane had always listed Lit 1 as appropriate for method level 4, and for most students, I believe that to be a more accurate listing.
The entire series consists of accurately edited, original four-period classics.
I do not use this series with students who are interested in pursuing a music major in college. For such students, I prefer urtext editions, and I teach the students to create their own editions from the urtext. The typical student would rather use collections where such editing has already been done for them, and that is the student for whom this series is appropriate.

good selection
As a a self taught pianist, who took it up during the pandemic, I've been using the piano adventures method and bought this to supplement. My main criticism is that there's a wide range of pieces: from Bartok's A winter's tale which is grade 1 to Bach minuets which are grade 4. And because they're probably in the order they were composed, it was hard to know what order to do them. So I liked the challenge of the first pieces, but then didn't learn much with the easier ones. So before you just open it up and play, figure out what order you want to learn them in.

Great Repertoire
This is one of my top go to collections for recital pieces. I challenge my students to play at least a level beyond their normal work for recital, since we spend several months preparing. The students are amazed at what they can accomplish!

Love this book
This book is essential to all of my early intermediate students who want to advance to classical music. I always start with Bartoks Lonely Traveler, pointing out all its odd (but cool) changes. Theyre usually hooked after that. Then we begin to tackle Bach.

read in Braille music code
I read Piano Literature in the Braille music code. As a piano student, this book used to be a Piano Repertoire book, and not a supplementary book. It is very fun to read in Braille music!Debra

Good lesson book
As a piano instructor this lesson book is a good start for learning various Classical composers. I use this book for my motivated students as the various pieces do need to be approached with discipline.

Great Classical Starter!
I love this series. They are real songs, I tell my students. Written by the dead guys who were geniuses!! They smile, and enjoy a full song that all sounds good and is playable. I agree with the prior review that said this book is for highly motivated students, but she and I too still use them for moderately motivated - usually the students think they don't like classical music... but they have not tried these books. Most really like the songs. I like them because they teach all styles of classical. The length of the songs are great. Not too long, but more than just a tiny theme. Whether you are a teacher or a self taught student, I hope you enjoy these books as much as my students and I do! (I have students ages 5 to 85 - I uses these books for ages 11 and up).
